Paul Wong arrested for posting ballot photos online

The singer was recently arrested to assist with investigations after he uploaded a photo taken in a voting booth during the Hong Kong election last year

Paul Wong lands himself in deep trouble after posting a photo of himself at the voting booth on his microblog update during the Hong Kong Legislative Council Election held in September 9 last year. He immediately deleted the photo the same night and commented, “My friend warned it’s illegal to post such photos. My god, hope I’ll not go to jail because of this silly mistake.”

Reports suggested the 48-year-old was recently arrested and is currently out on bail. This case has been handed over to the Regional Crime Unit and it is also revealed Paul received instructions to report to the police again around end next month.

According to Hong Kong legislative laws, it is strictly prohibited to take any photos and recordings inside the voting booth, failing to comply will result in fine charges and six months imprisonment.

Paul’s manager confirmed on this news and expressed, “We can’t disclose any further details as it’s under judicial proceedings right now. Everything is as per normal.”
