Jolin Tsai rejects Vivian Dawson’s marriage proposal twice

Rumour has it that Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai has rejected two marriage proposals from her boyfriend, Vivian Dawson.

The couple has been dating for over two years and their relationship has always been put in the spotlight.

Recent reports claimed that Vivian had proposed to Jolin twice –once during their London vacation last year and again during their New Zealand trip early this year – but was rejected on both occasions.

It was also said that Jolin rejected Vivian’s proposal because he only asked her verbally, without actually staging an engagement.

The Taiwanese singer’s close friend later said that Jolin feels insecure settling down with Vivian because her he is very popular among the ladies and he has many female friends.

She added that Jolin is satisfied with how things are now and she does not necessarily have to get married. Jolin’s friends also advised her not to rush into a marriage so soon.

While attending an event yesterday, Vivian dismissed rumours of his marriage proposal to Jolin, as he does not intend to get married yet.

However, the 26-year-old model admitted that his parents have met Jolin and they like her personality.

Jolin’s manager also said that the 32-year-old singer has no plans to settle down yet as she is enjoying her current way of life.

Jolin Tsai slammed for indecent exposure

Jolin Tsai was recently slammed by the Chinese media for being “indecent” after she reportedly exposed her underwear while performing a split during her concert.

The Taiwanese singer recently embarked on her world tour 2013. Wearing a jewel-studded costume, Jolin put on her usual sexy dance performances at her show in Haining, China two nights ago.

However, the 32-year-old exposed her underwear while performing a split and the incident gained widespread attention after the Chinese media went into an uproar.

Jolin was criticised by the Chinese media for being “indecent”, claiming that it was unsightly to see her perform complicated gymnastics dance moves in her revealing dance costume.

In response to the reports, Jolin’s manager claimed that Jolin did not expose her underwear. “People thought it was her underwear, but what they saw was actually a pair of jewel-studded safety shorts which was specially designed for the concert,” he said.

Her manager also emphasised that Jolin’s performance was “absolutely decent” and said that Jolin usually wears two pairs of safety shorts under her dance costume.

“Jolin always ensures that her dance moves are done to perfection. She is well aware that her movements and actions are usually exaggerated during her dance performances so she always makes necessary precautions to prevent exposing herself.”

Selina Jen still affected by burn accident

Taiwanese artiste Selina Jen recently wrote a magazine article titled “A letter to Selina” where she focused on the filming accident that took place in Shanghai three years ago that left her with severe burns on her body. In the article, she illustrated her journey to recovery and revealed that she once thought of leaving showbiz as the sight of her scars made her extremely depressed.

Besides going through the pain of the physical injuries, the 31-year-old had to cope with a wounded confidence as she found herself becoming “fat”, “ugly” and “crooked-face”. Despite her gradual recovery, the singer admitted that she still breaks down thinking about the damage the accident had caused. Sharing intimate thoughts through her writing, Selina let on that she often questioned her own decision to stand before the cameras again.

Nevertheless, she expressed her gratitude towards her husband Richard Chang who has provided much needed support, reminding her that “the worst is over” and that she should be thankful for the successful recovery.

According to Selina, his encouragement often helped to erase her negative feelings: “What’s lost is lost. We should look forward to the future. It’s a waste of time to wallow in sorrow. Don’t think about how you used to be like. I miss the six-packs that I had when I was young too!”

Dating rumours between Taiwanese singer Lee Hom and Taiwanese model Evelyn Lin resurfaced after the pair reportedly spent Valentine’s Day in Las Vegas together this year.

Sources revealed that Lee Hom flew from Hong Kong to Los Angeles on the first day of Lunar New Year this year, and later made a stop at Las Vegas to meet the model.

When asked to confirm the rumours, Lee Hom’s manager said that the star would be spending his 10-day break in different countries, and that he is currently spending time with his family.

Lee Hom, who frequently posts photos on his microblog to update fans about his whereabouts, has also been unusually quiet lately, fueling speculation that he is indeed on a secret date with Evelyn in Vegas.

Dating rumours first sparked when Lee Hom was caught spending the night at Evelyn’s place after driving her home in October last year. However, he was then allegedly dating Chinese pianist Li Yun Di and netizens speculated that it was a ploy to divert attention from his relationship with Yun Di.

Lee Hom and Yun Di were romantically linked after Lee Hom was photographed visiting the pianist’s apartment in October. The pair was also spotted holding hands when posing for a group photo at Taiwanese songbird A-Mei's bar the following night.

However, the pair have dismissed the dating rumours and stressed that they are “just friends”.

Vic Chou suffered from depression due to new drama

Vic Chou shared his struggles with depression at the promotional event of his new drama series, Home alongside co-star Janine Chang.

Portraying a solemn military officer during the Second Sino-Japanese War in the 1940s, the singer-actor got too engaged in his character while filming in 2011 and suffered from depression as a result.

Vic kept a distance from everyone, and suffered a drastic weight loss to 64kg due to insomnia and a lack of appetite. He would also isolate himself at home during filming breaks.

The 31-year-old only recovered from his illness after the production crew wrapped up filming fifteen months later. He has since resumed his usual activities and also gained weight to 73kg currently.

"I'm perfectly normal right now," he assured.

Meanwhile, the heartthrob remained secretive on his current love life. He has yet to confess on his relationship with model-actress Reen Yu even though they were photographed behaving intimately at Vic's apartment during New Year's Eve.

Vic added, "I prefer to keep things personal. I have no plans for the future, let nature take its course."

Selina Jen called an “aunty” by kids

Selina Jen recorded the first episode of her new variety show “Little Universe No. 33” produced by Taiwan’s television channel Super TV on Saturday. The Taiwanese artiste will be co-hosting the show with popular College Talk host Na Dou (Lin You Zhi).

According to the Taiwanese media, Selina made a high-profile entrance to her first recording session of her new variety show by entering the studio in a million-dollar sports car.

The show, which is similar to popular Taiwanese variety show College Talk hosted by Matilda Tao, Na Dou and Ah Ken, will be a kid-centric program that features children as guests on the show with a weekly topical question set for discussion.

Na Dou confessed that he could not handle some of the difficult questions posed by the children, “One of them asked, I have been caught dating with many different girls, so how many girlfriends do I actually have?”

The host added that he had to quickly clarify that “those are just friends” and told the kids that he is “not dating anyone now”.

On the other hand, Selina, who has her own method when it comes to dealing with kids, was also taken aback when her young guests called her “aunty” on the show. The host then pretended to be angry and told them, “You called me aunty because you wanted to catch my attention?”

The 31-year-old starlet is reportedly paid about NT$120,000 (about S$5025) per episode – equivalent to what veteran Taiwanese hosts Zhang Xiao Yan and Dee Hsu are earning right now.

When asked about her pay for hosting the show, Selina responded that she was “not sure” about money issues.

Selina and Na Dou’s new variety show would be replacing a variety show hosted by Bowie Tsang. Selina’s pay is reportedly about NT$40,000 (about $1700) more than what Bowie was paid, making her the queen of Super TV’s variety shows.

It’s another false alarm in baby news after Barbie Hsu denied being pregnant. The actress emphasised on her microblog: “Please be patient. I’ll announce personally if I have any good news. I don’t want this ‘misunderstanding’ to stress me up.”

The Taiwanese artiste, who is well-known for her role as Shan Cai in Taiwanese idol drama Meteor Garden, recently rejected an invitation to reunite onstage with former onscreen co-stars, boyband F4 for Jiangsu TV’s Spring Festival Gala next month. This immediately sparked a flurry of speculation that Barbie is finally pregnant with her first child.

According to an insider, most of Barbie’s friends in Beijing are already aware of this good news but she refused to disclose the news to the public due to the “three months rule” (according to old age beliefs, sharing the news before one becomes three months pregnant would lead to a miscarriage).

Talks are rife that she would dedicate most of her time to take care of her pregnancy and has declined all future work assignments.

However, the rumours have effectively been quashed, following Barbie’s clarification on her microblog post on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old spurred countless baby rumours ever since she openly expressed her desire to have a child after marrying Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in March 2011. In order to conceive, the petite actress who was once a vegetarian even changed her eating habits by consuming meat in order to gain weight.

Show Luo: Vivian Chow was my dream girl

Taiwanese artiste Show Luo wrapped up four gigs at the Hong Kong Coliseum with much aplomb over the weekend. His series of concerts featured a glitzy line-up of Hong Kong stars such as Jimmy Lin, Alex To, and ‘90s screen sweetheart Vivian Chow.

Well known for her ladylike image, Vivian was the guest performer for the his third show where he confessed that the singer-actress was his dream girl during his teenage days.

“When Vivian released her first album in Taiwan in 1992, I fantasised that she was my girlfriend and pasted her photos all over my room,” the 33-year-old admitted.

According to media reports, Show was too shy to maintain eye contact with Vivian throughout their rehearsal sessions. He turned green with envy when his assistant and the make-up artists took turns to take photos with the star, and exclaimed, “Great! All of you are ignoring my existence!”

Besides presenting his “dream girl” with a stalk of rose during the concert, Show teasingly attempted to give Vivian a peck on her hands, but ended up kissing his own hand instead.

He was taken aback when Vivian offered a hug after performing the duet ‘Love Expert’. The startled star, who hurriedly wiped off his sweat as he went forth to claim his hug, morphed into fanboy and collapsed on the floor afterwards.

The “Asian Dance King” brought laughter to the arena when he held Vivian’s hands and gave a shout-out to his mother. He hollered, “This is the first time I’m bringing you [Vivian] to meet my mum.”

Dressed in a bustier and garter belt stocking, Taiwanese songstress Elva Hsiao revealed her sexy physique in her new MV "As Long As There Was Love".

Elva initially felt tense wearing the outfit in front of the production crew, but later overcame her fear by "hypnotizing" herself as a character in the French movies.

S.H.E visits ill health children on Christmas Eve

Taiwanese girl group S.H.E played Santarinas and paid a visit to the children’s ward at National Taiwan University Hospital on Christmas Eve. This is Ella’s third time celebrating the festival with the kids and her spouse, Alvin Lai, joined the girls’ on their charitable deed this year.

Decked in red outfits, the trio added festive cheer to the atmosphere in the hospital. Knowing that children’s programs are popular with the kids, Selina even did an imitation of “Butterfly Sister” who is a well-liked TV personality on children’s programmes for the young ones.

While the three ladies tried their best to lighten the mood of the ill-health children, the kids were too young to recognize them and even refused to accept the albums that they distributed, saying, “I don’t want [the albums]!”

Embarrassed by the kids’ rejections, the trio pasted strips of paper ‘tears’ on their faces and tickled the kids with their hilarious expressions. Hebe, who prepared many hand-folded Christmas trees, confessed that she was worried about doing a bad job with the craft-work. The songstress’ worries were unfounded as the children were delighted to receive the handmade gifts.

Parents of the warded kids also encouraged Selina, who has been through a tumultuous journey after the ‘fire accident’, to stay strong in face of the long road to recovery.

Jimmy Lin caused a stir among his fans when he revealed plans for an overseas wedding celebration and honeymoon with his wife, Taiwanese model Kelly Chen, next year. Although the boyish Taiwanese actor has been officially married for three years, fans still cannot accept the 28-year-old model as his wife.

They have a prejudice against Kelly and give negative remarks whenever her photo surfaced online.

Jolin Tsai breaks down during MV filming

Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai cried for eight hours straight while filming the music video for I, from her latest album MUSE. The song, which depicts her journey as an artiste from debut to superstar status, apparently struck a nerve within the 32-year-old.

One of the lyrics says, 'When the stage grows small one day, who will still be around? Could it be that I'm not good enough? Who will come and embrace me?'

Then there is the music video, which displays the raw feelings of a superstar behind all the glamour and glitz onstage.

To show her 'real side', Jolin will go bare-faced in the music video. While looking at herself in the clip afterward, she grimaced, 'When I watch female artistes removing their make-up on television shows, I always thought the most awkward part was the 'half-naked' face. Now I understand how that feels!'

The songstress is contemplating removing the track from the set list for her 'Myself' World Tour concert at the Taipei Arena later this month, as she is worried that she might break down again.

Taiwanese girl group S.H.E recently went on popular variety program Here Comes Kangxi to promote their new album The Flowers Are Blossoming Again.

Kai Ko confesses his love for Elva Hsiao

After numerous denials of a romantic relationship and multiple we-are-just-good-friends claims, Taiwanese actor Kai Ko has finally declared - for the first time - his love for Taiwanese singer Elva Hsiao during an interview in Here Comes Kang Xi.

Kai Ko told hosts Kevin Tsai and Dee Hsu that his friendship with Elva deepened after a game of mahjong.

When Kevin asked if Elva was the love of his life, the 21-year-old smiled shyly, "Of all the girls that I know, I like [Elva] very much!"

Kai Ko commented there are "no barriers" between them despite their 12-year age gap. He would call Elva by name while the latter would call him "Kai Kai".

He admitted going on holidays with Elva, accompanied by a group of friends. During their trip to Bali, the pair sat beside each other on the flight and fell asleep together, but Kai Ko emphasised that they "did not share the same blanket".

Dee questioned Kai eagerly if he had the urge to kiss his girlfriend while she was asleep, who then blushed immediately afterwards. "She [Elva] looked cute, but I won't kiss her."

Alex To marries 26 y/o girlfriend

Yesterday on "1111" (November 11th @ 11am ; implies "For a Lifetime") 50 year old singer Alex To married 26 year old Ice Lee. The groom and his 11 groomsmen including Tony Leung (Chiu Wai), Kenny Bee, David Lui and Lam Lei were all dressed in tuxedos accompanied with a flower. During the bride pickup ceremony, Alex followed the Chinese traditions and went through the bridesmaid's "test of love". Fortunately he was prepared and gave them a huge red envelope and successfully passed the test. The bride, Ice, was dressed in ancient-styled wedding dress.

Alex was in a great mood and expressed the bridesmaids didn't have a negotiation price and the bride pick up went smoothly. When asked if the bridesmaids tortured Tony? Alex laughed: "No one dares to mess with him! (Tony made all the girls faint?) So that's why they all give him special treatment! David was punished to be an arch bridge, the other groomsmen had to do pull ups!"

The wedding banquet had 30 tables, and the cardboard figures of the newly wed were at placed in the front to help welcome guests. Many good friends from the industry arrived at around 5pm, including Jackie Chan, Tony Leung (Kar Fai) and his wife, Cecilia Yip and her husband, Lawrence Ng and his family. Ex-lover Sandra Ng and her partner Peter Chan avoided the media and sneaked in. As for his Taiwanese rumored girlfriend (Tarcy Su) and ex-lover Kathy Chow (Niki Chow's sister) were absent.

Meanwhile, another marriage was taking place, popular band RubberBand (RB) lead vocalist "Number 6" (Miu Ho Cheung) and his lyricist girlfriend Tim Lui of 10 years tied the knot on the day of four ones (1111). Compared to Alex To's wedding, Number 6 kept it low-key and only invited his family and friends to the marriage registrar in Central to witness the most touching moment of his life. The only friend in the industry who attended was singer Terence Chui (Siu Fay). During the big group picture, the newly weds were so excited they did Chok poses for pictures and the groom even gave his bride a passionate kiss. The guest all cheered and applauded! Number 6 said: "The meaning of 1111 is I am faithful to my wife for life! (Ready to make babies after marriage?) I'm currently busy preparing for our HK Colisuem concert, 'making show' won over 'making baby'!"

S.H.E holds first fan gathering in two years

Scheduled to release their latest Chinese music album this year-end, S.H.E decided to mark their comeback with a "Back to School" themed gathering with fans yesterday.

It was their first gathering since the release of their last album, SHERO two years ago. More than 1500 fans attended and some even started queuing up since last Friday.

Dressed as students for the event when S.H.E appeared onstage, member Ella Chen immediately joked, "I used to wear pants in my school days!"

Fans sang along to 'Not Yet Lovers', the girls' debut song that made them well-known in the Chinese music industry.

Selina Jen also dedicated a speech, titled "Best Sisters" to her fellow members, grateful to them for "taking good care" of her during her burnt accident in October 2010.

She expressed in tears, "They [Ella and Hebe] dote on me very much, always visiting me in the hospital whenever they are free, supporting me in each stage of my recovery progress, making me smile and comforting me when I am depressed."

Fans, together with Hebe and Ella, were reduced to tears by Selina's heartfelt words at the event. Thanking fans for their utmost support all these years, S.H.E promised to sing till they are 80.

Eager to follow in the footsteps of his labelmates, Aaron Yan hopes to settle down soon, just like his seniors, Selina Jen and Ella Chen, who got married this year and last year respectively.

Single for three years, the 25-year-old joked that he has been “suppressing his desires” for work, which is ranked top priority for now. Hoping to retire and marry at the age of 45 years old, the Fahrenheit member wants to walk down the aisle with a 28-year-old wife in future.

Talking about Ella’s relationship with her husband, Alvin Lai, he shared, “I once met Ella at the high-speed rail station and she was all over him, lying on her husband’s chest and flirting openly with him.”

Following the success of his previous solo album, Aaron Yan will be releasing his new album The Moment this October and mounting pressure from the album preparation has disrupted Aaron’s sleeping habits. To protect his throat and to control his diet, Aaron has been abstaining from spicy hotpot which he calls his “stress-reliever”.

Aaron lamented that this “double-blow” has caused him to lose 7kg in less than two months, weighing only 61kg at the moment.

He added “But nowadays I’m forcing myself to sleep before midnight. Hopefully I will become healthier by sleeping early.”
