Hong Kong singers Denise Ho and Anthony Wong blacklisted in China

The singers who recently declared their homosexuality are reportedly forbidden to appear on China’s public broadcasting and radio channels

Hong Kong singers Denise Ho and Anthony Wong (of Cantopop group Tat Ming Pair) were reportedly blacklisted in China after the two recently declared that they are homosexuals; the both of them are now forbidden to appear on all public broadcasting and radio channels.

According to reports, Denise and Anthony have ‘crossed the line’ after showing their support for the ‘Dare to Love’ event that celebrates homosexuality culture in Hong Kong as well as publicly denouncing national education.

Rumour has it that Denise’s request to appear on China CCTV’s popular television program Dream Choir as a guest was rejected, and her management company later found out that Leslie was being blacklisted.

When contacted by reporters to confirm the rumours, a representative from Denise's management company commented, “I have never heard of China blacklisting Denise and Anthony Wong. As for rumours of Denise not being allowed on Dream Choir, I need to check with my colleagues in China because they are in charge of arranging the schedule.”

Meanwhile, Denise who is currently filming for a Chinese commercial declined to comment on the matter.

When reporters contacted cantopop singer Anthony, he said that he is unsure if he has been blacklisted. “Earlier on, Beijing Television invited me to attend a Spring Festival program, but I turned down because of my busy schedule.”

The 50-year-old felt that he should not be suppressed for coming clean with his sexual orientation as he has not done anything unreasonable. Anthony also hoped that the rumours of him being blacklisted are untrue.

Huang Xiao Ming falls from 3-metre height

Chinese actor-model Huang Xiao Ming suffered a comminuted fracture (in which the bone breaks into a number of pieces) in two toes on his left foot when he fell 3 metres during the filming of his new movie The Bride With White Hair 3D.

He was filming a fighting scene in the air when a sudden gush of wind derailed the wires off the crane, causing the actor to crash straight to the ground. The 35-year-old was unable to stand up after the fall. Though he was in pain, he was worried that the accident would affect the shooting schedule.

On the way to the hospital for emergency treatment, he tried to relieve the tense atmosphere by joking, “Don’t worry, I’m the God of War.”

X-Ray results showed that other than the two injured toes, his left arm and right knee also suffered a number of bruises. He was then transferred to a renowned orthopedic hospital in Beijing for further treatment. Xiao Ming showed no signs of head injury after a thorough examination, but he is currently still at the hospital for observation.

Despite requiring surgery for his foot injury, it is believed that he would choose a ‘safer’ treatment alternative as he is expected to be busy with movie promotions of his new films The Flying Guillotine and The Last Tycoon next month.

Xiao Ming’s rumoured girlfriend, Hong Kong model-actress Angelababy, was said to have cancelled her work schedule in Hangzhou so that she could stay with him in Beijing. The 23-year-old expressed her concern via her manager, “It’s shocking to hear about that [his injury]. I’m sure all his friends feel the same.”

Zhang Ziyi admits to dating Chinese host Sa Beining

Rumours of Zhang Ziyi dating CCTV host Sa Beining have been circulating for almost a year now.

While the pair has been spotted openly expressing their affection for each other on numerous occasions they have never confirmed that they were dating.

At the North American premiere of Dangerous Liaisons with co-star Jang Dong-gun, Ziyi was all smiles, looking very much like a woman in love. At the press conference, she shared, “I’ve always pursued love (as) I’m someone who puts love first. I firmly believe that riches don’t matter in love – the only distinction is whether or not it’s real – which makes it a beautiful thing. “As long as I have love, I’m not afraid of suffering.”

Despite being unwilling to answer questions directly relating to her rumoured beau, the actress beamed when members of the media wished her well in her current relationship, simply expressing, “Thank you!”

Kevin Cheng as Ip Man hopes he won't be compared to Donnie Yen

Mainland TV drama Ip Man held a press conference in Suzhou yesterday. The cast including Kevin Cheng, Chrissie Chau, Cecilia Han and Yuen Wah all attended to help promote. When Kevin was playing games with the audience, he generously gave out hugs and neglected Chrissie. When Cecilia Han talked about her relationship with Kevin in the drama, she couldn't hide her sweetness, she frankly expressed she tried to learn more about Kevin by using food: "We're both slow starters. Later, we had intimate scenes and it went very smoothly. Once I see his eyes, I get the feelings!"

When the event organizers showed the trailer, Kevin was seen with powerful momentum standing by the wooden stump, in a long white gown. However, Kevin expressed he cannot be compared to Donnie Yen, "Of course films are a lot more exquisite than TV series. Also, Donnie is initially a good fighter, I started from zero, but I believe the outcome is going to be pretty good!" In regards to Cecilia took initiative trying to get to know him, Kevin said there is no such thing: "Giving food is nothing unusual. I will also buy her foods too. Each day after I finish shooting, I have to rehearse the fighting scenes, so I have no time at all. We rarely communicated and don't keep in touch outside of filming." When asked if there were any females that knocked on his door? Kevin laughed: "Ghost? There's ghost in Kunshan? Of course not!" He also expressed he never thought shooting this series would be more difficult than Burning Flames III.

As there is currently protests in Suzhou? Kevin said: "I rarely go out, I believe its not an issue. I hope for less civil unrest, otherwise people will laugh at us. We should be facing problems in a gentle manner. Just boycotting Japanese goods is already causing great harm to Japan!"

Chrissie expressed she never thought she had a naked back scene on the first day of work: "The scene was about me trying to motivate myself to get back on my feet because I had a leg injury. Fortunately it was just revealing my back, nothing special to see. Of course, the set was cleared, so not too embarrassing." She also expressed she was very nervous when she had to do a passionate kiss scene with Kevin.

Chinese star claims Deric Wan cheated her of money and love

A Chinese actress by the name of Wan Jiarong has shockingly claimed that Hong Kong actor Deric Wan is her ex-flame and cheated her of her money and love.

She alleged that the two were introduced in 2004 by a mutual friend. At that time, she was still in school but she decided to date him after his relentless pursuit. After they started dating officially, she even went behind her parents' backs to change her surname to match his.

"He forced me not to work and stay at home. My passport, identification, credit cards and bank books were in his possession. I listened to him because at the time, he was my entire world."

In 2007, when Deric wanted to purchase a piece of property in Tianjin as an investment, Jiarong claimed that she forked out RMB100,000 (S$19,600) to aid his purchase. "In total, I gave him RMB500,000 (S$98,000), so when he bought the house, I asked a lawyer friend of mine to draft an agreement stating that if he were to sell the house, he would give me RMB500,000 (S$98,000)."

Jiarong added that Deric promised to tie the knot with her and obtained an affidavit confirming that he is single, which is required in mainland China for marriage registration.

The property in Tianjin is reportedly sold for an estimated RMB3 million (S$590,000) but Jiarong claims that she has not received her promised payment of RMB500,000 (S$98,000).

Plagued with numerous relationship rumours recently, reports claimed that Deric tied the knot with Chinese entertainer Zhao Ting, who will be giving birth next month.

Jiarong broke into tears at the mention of Zhao Ting, claiming that Deric brought Zhao Ting home in June and even chased her out of the home. Deric also said that he furthered their relationship purely for money.

Jiarong claims that she has since given up on Deric and only wants her RMB500,000 (S$98,000) back. She has engaged a lawyer to start legal proceedings against him.

Deric and his management have declined comment on her allegations.

Li Bingbing is on the shanghai film festival jury

The Shanghai Film Festival opened today. Li Bingbing who was the jury flew to Shanghai on the 15th. Li Bingbing said, "The leads of the film festival will always be movies, for the red carpet you just have to dress to show respect to the occasion. When I attended Venice, Gucci provided all the fashion. This time the label is still in charge, to me choice without choice is the most fortunate! Because this way you can focus on judging films in competition and have even more time to experience the film atmosphere."

Would the jury favor Chinese films? Li Bingbing said that emotionally of course she would have a psychological preference, but Shanghai Film Festival is an A class film festival, a global film competition. As a judge she must judge with fairness. Her standard was "whether it hit your heart!" Later she will watch movies everyday. Will she feel frustrated and exhausted? She said, "It will definitely be exhausting, but I believe my mind will be raging, everyday I will have to watch more than three films. Normally it's very hard to watch so many good films all at once! This time on the jury to me is a very rare chance for me to inject years of film understanding and thinking into the jury process."

Faye Wong's daughter complains about mum online

Faye Wong's eldest daughter complained about the Chinese singer's strict control with a post on her microblog.
The songstress's daughter, 15-year-old Dou Jing Tong, whose father is Faye's ex-husband Dou Wei, was reportedly going through a rebellious phrase. It was said that she constantly brought up conflicting opinions with stepfather Li Yapeng last year and to minimize the pair's conflicts at home, Faye decided to send Jing Tong to Shanghai for school.
After Jing Tong was spotted going to night clubs with her classmates in Shanghai, Faye was afraid that Jing Tong might be led astray by friends and subsequently arranged for her daughter to be transferred back to Beijing. Continuing her studies in the international school just five minutes away from home, the 15-year-old was ordered to reach home within 30 minutes after school every day.
A frustrated Jing Tong took it out on her microblog and expressed in English, "Life is just so limited wen (sic) ur (sic) young, you can never make your own decisions of where you want to live, what you want to do. Youth brings happiness and sometimes sorrow wen (sic) you cant (sic) be with someone...but I guess time will heal the pain."
A tip-off also claimed that the mother of two decided to send Jing Tong to Shanghai initially after she was found dating a Beijing boy. It was speculated that the teenager went to night clubs in Shanghai to spite and "revenger" her mother's decision.

Steven Ma: New Series, New Knowledge, New Challenge

He is a well known Hong Kong TV actor, and has acted brilliantly in TVB series such as DOMD1998, Healing Hands, and Gentle Crackdown 2. He is also a talented scholar ( 才子) amongst actors, who periodically shares his own thoughts and feelings in his own column, One Pen Ma, published in the Clear Newspaper. He is the 4th Brother in many people's hearts; he is Steven Ma.

Steven Ma, whose contract with TVB has just recently ended, is currently in Hengdian filming his new series, "Yuan Yang Pei"《鸳鸯佩》. In his column, Steven uses "New series, New knowledge, New Challenge" (新剧新知新挑战) as a topic sentence to succinctly describe this new series. Yesterday during Yuan Yang Pei's first day of filming, this reporter did an exclusive interview with Steven.

Both Good and Evil; Two Kinds of Characters Perfectly Interpreted
First time filming a pre-modern series in mainland and already Steven faces a new challenge that has him playing two characters with a completely different personality from each other, namely: Li Lai Fu and Tang Ting Xuan.

Steven expresses that he likes this challenge very much: "Li Lai Fu is a very simple, very honest person. My makeover right now is for his character. Very grassroot. His feelings for Yong En (female lead) is very pure, his love comes straight from the heart. And Tang Ting Xuan is the young master of the Tang family. Since young he has been greatly influenced by his father. His forte is doing business. Sometimes very ruthless can even say evil. And he also engages in an ongoing power struggle with his older brother, Tang Ting Liang. He is a very complex person but he wasn't born that way, the environment he is in has molded him to be that way. Later, like Lai Fu, he too, falls in love with Yong En. So, the entangled relationship of Lai Fu, Tang Ting Xuan, Yong En makes this series quite challenging."

Attentive to Details; Props and Make-up both very Important
"I consider myself an understanding person, but at the same time, also a person who adheres to his principles", this statement Steven once said in his column. And at Hengdian on-location filming, the reporter observed certain details that fully supported Steven's own self-evaluation.

Detail #1: Analyze the script, remember own props.
"Blooper" scenes often appeared in the series because of inappropriate usage of props. During the interview, Steven had just finished his first scene: Lai Fu, an outsider who just came into town, upon seeing the job hiring notice on the Golden Jade Restaurant happily tears it off and enters the restaurant. Prior to filming, the crew member handed Steven a bag imprinted with diagonal lines. When Steven saw it he laughed and said: "Isn't this the bag that Lai Fu would use in the later scenes when he delivers take-outs? My scene now is a job interview. So should be carrying my own luggage ba." Sure enough, checking against the props list, the crew immediately made the switch.

Detail #2: Portraying a grassroot, should have a grassroot look.
It is well known that Steven's skin is inordinately good. When filming in Hengdian, the make-up artists praised his good skin for making their work easier. But because Lai Fu is from the countryside his skin is naturally on the tan side. The troupe had already considered this aspect so the make-up artist dully applied the skin darkening power onto Steven's face for a tan look. Nevertheless, Steven still spotted a problem: For the scene, Lai Fu's clothes have both his sleeves and pants rolled up, thus, the exposed flesh contrasted starkly with his face. After communicating his observation to the make-up artist, two make-up artists simultaneously remedied the earlier oversight of exposed flesh with darkening powder. Steven said contritely: "Sorry to have troubled so many people to help with my make-up. Maybe for next time I should go get a natural tan under the sun." But in later scenes, Steven will portray a rich young master of a wealthy family so of course this sun tanning method will not work. So for now, Steven will just have to bear with an overall body make-up.

Detail #3 Understanding his co-star will promote more tacit collaborating
Steven, who has mostly filmed tv series in Hong Kong seldom collaborated with mainland actresses, so when he heard that this series required him to collaborate with mainland actress, Zhang Meng, he proceeded to understand who Zhang Meng (张檬) is. "I found out that this person, Zhang Meng, will be paired with me. So I checked. First, very young. Second, very pretty. Third, I heard that her performances are pretty good too." Although on the acting aspect both parties still have to adapt to each other, Steven is not worried about their collaboration: "Earlier in Beijing, we were already introduced to each other. With this initial acquaintance I believe we now have a better understanding of each other."

Temporary Leaving TVB; Look Forward to Having a Tailor-Made Role
March this year, Steven officially terminated his TVB contract, and left his 'maternal home' where he had worked for 18 years. Furthermore, his last TVB series, Daddy Good Deeds, has just finished broadcasting, with good ratings, to boot.

Talking about his future without TVB, Steven came across very mature:" For now, I've temporary left TVB. Also, recently, Hong Kong has just finished airing my series, Daddy Good Deeds. My jobs in mainland for the next two years are currently under negotiation. Conversely, on Hong Kong side, I'm still undecided because many of the tv stations in Hong Kong are all very good, including my own maternal home, TVB. For now, I welcome all kinds of collaborations. But mainly it will depend on fate and the script.

"As for the role, this Tang Ting Xuan though has deep sentiments can be considered an antagonist. For me, it has already realized my first challenge. In the future, there are still many more characters I would like to attempt. Actually, I really hope the scriptwriters would tailor-made a role for me that is challenging to me, that would be awesome."

Even though for various reasons Steven did not renew his TVB contract, toward his "maternal home" he has only gratitude, like what he once wrote: " Actually, worldly affairs change, human affairs may not necessarily change; the people and things in TVB, the gratitude and sentiment, I remember them all clearly."

Love Hengdian, Enjoying Life
Taiwan's Iset tv station once said this of Hengdian: "If you are an artist and have yet to visit Hengdian, then you must work even harder." Truly, since 1996 Hengdian constructed its first Guangzhou streets scene zone and Hong Kong streets zone until today with its many other scene zones, lots of artists from outside mainland have visited Hengdian and many have even become regulars here. Steven, who has trained his focus onto mainland, has also gradually become one of Hengdian's regulars. In his One Pen Ma column he has mentioned Hengdian numerous times: "Say Hengdian is very flourishing and prosperous? In film production aspect, definitely.""Food, drink, entertainment, Hengdian basically has them all. ""Looking at Hengdian's sky..this kind of chilly and gray atmosphere imbued in me a kind of solitary clear-headedness."

In this interview, Steven has obviously become familiar with us, as he spontaneously addressed us as "Little Heng Heng", (tn: Hengdian's affectionate nickname) and has even become a tour guide to his new colleagues."In my troupe, there are many who came here for the first time. Many of them came from Beijing so seldom came here. Anyway, I'm very familiar with this place. In Hengdian where to eat or whatnots, they all ask me. Especially that restaurant 状元烤蹄, I really like. "Beside dining, Steven, who greatly enjoys physical fitness and sports, even find such places in Hengdian. He says: "I love to go to the badminton court in Hengdian. Yesterday I just finished a set. And had even made many new friends there. Also the gym, I like it a lot too."

4th Brother is so called 4th Brother because besides being 4th in his family, it is even more so because many people consider him a friend they can interact socially and also view him as a big brother. I believe this attentive and earnest, considerate and kind-hearted 4th Brother will travel far on the road of success.

Fans were of course very worried, but her family was quite shocked as well.” They continued, “Within the agency, we have decided that it would be better to just let this pass quietly, and thus, will not be taking legal action against the media outlet.”

“Chae Yeon is doing well and is healthy. There is no need to worry,” they added, putting fans’ concerns to rest.

The reports being referred to originated from a Chinese online media source, who had posted on Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter), “Chae Yeon, who had posted that she was depressed lately on the internet, has attempted suicide on April 9th. However, she was discovered right away, and is currently being treated after being rushed to the hospital.” However, Chae Yeon was photographed at the airport on April 10th, confirming that the reports had been false.

The same source later apologized through Weibo on April 13th, stating, “Because of the mistakes by the editorial department, we reported on stories about Chae Yeon’s suicide that had no evidence to back it up. We apologize to Chae Yeon, her agency, and her fans, and will delete the original report as well as punish those responsible.”

Netizens who heard the news commented, “I was worried. You’re fine right?”, “Chae Yeon, don’t ever think negatively. Always stay healthy and happy.”, and “Whew, that’s a relief”.

Rumoured rivals Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi make up at awards show

All is well between rumoured rivals Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi.

The award-winning actresses were spotted hugging each other when they attended the 2011 Director's Association Recognition Show in Beijing two nights ago. The duo left the venue hand in hand, dismissing rumours that they did not get along.

They were also rumoured to be rivals in love as Gong Li used to date director Zhang Yimou, who reportedly began seeing Ziyi after they broke up. The actresses reportedly did not get along when they worked on "Memoirs of a Geisha" and had never worked together since.

Despite a lack of interaction with each other at the beginning, Gong Li walked up to congratulate Ziyi after the actress won Best Actress for "Love For Life". The two actresses were seen hugging and Gong Li had even kissed Ziyi on the cheek to congratulate her on her win.

Ziyi, who won the Best Actress award expressed that she is very happy, "It is great to be able to attain recognition from so many directors. I'd like to thank all the directors that I've worked with and all the directors that I will be working with in the future. I always believe that my next movie will be the best."

Although actor Aaron Kwok, who had also starred in "Love For Life", did not get an award for his performance in the movie, Ziyi comforted the actor on her microblog. She had praised him for his acting and claimed that he is the best actor in her heart.

Mark Chao and Gao Yuan Yuan dating?

Mark Chao and Gao Yuan Yuan were rumoured to be dating after meeting on the set of the movie Search last year. However, the pair had denied the speculation and claimed that they were merely friends. Mark and Yuan Yuan had spent a great amount of time together and shared quite a number of intimate scenes while filming the movie last year.

Two weeks ago, Yuan Yuan was seen flying to Nanjing to meet Mark, who was filming a movie there. The pair was photographed wearing matching sportswear in a hotel by the paparazzi. They were said to have stayed in the hotel for five consecutive days.

When asked by reporters, Mark's manager expressed that they will not interfere with their artist's personal life. However, he added that the pair had enjoyed the filming together and that if they are in a relationship, the company will give them their blessings.

The pair is said to have kept their relationship a secret due to their cultural and age difference (Yuan Yuan is five years older than Mark). They were also rumoured to have started the affair while they were both seeing someone else.

In a related report, Mark's former girlfriend Janine Chang had been posting depressing messages on her microblog for the past two days. While rumours are swirling that the actress is troubled by her former lover's newfound love, her manager explained that it was because the actress is mourning for the recent demise of her grandfather.
