Shirley Kwan Disappeared 36 Hours, Finally Tells Family She's Fine

Pop queen of the 90s, Shirley Kwan, suddenly wrote on Facebook at 4am yesterday "I want to suicide." "I don't want to live." "I won't be coming back. I no longer want to see anyone who had fate with me in this life. Except for my son." Many of Shirley's good friends and her manager (Marianne Wong) madly tried to reach her in order to 'rescue' her. After 36 hours of disappearance, Shirley made a phone call home at 5pm to say she's fine. Everyone was relieved.

Marianne accepted an interview and revealed: "Shirley already called her sister and said she's fine. She told her family not to worry, everything is well. Perhaps she's feeling unhappy and just wanted some time alone. Her family is currently looking after her son. Shirley is still not in a very good mood and won't be making any public appearances. However, she will still be recording [her songs] next week. I have not been in touch with Shirley yet." When asked if Shirley's family considered calling the police? She said they won't call the police without communicating first, even so, the decision is for her family to make. Marianne believes Shirley won't do anything 'silly' (suicide) because she loves her son.

It was understood, Shirley wanted to 'die' all because her initial plans to make a comeback in the music industry this year with a new album and concert did not turn out the way sh wanted. When she was about to sign the contract with Gold Typhoon, they wanted her to sign a management contract as well. If she didn't sign the management contract, then she would have to extend her album contract for another several years. However, Shirley was worried her momentum for the comeback wouldn't be strong enough since Gold Typhoon has so many other singers under them. Therefore she insisted on not signing the management contract and in the end, all her plans failed. This deeply impacted Shirley, she started resenting thinking she's a talent with no opportunities.

Gold Typhoon manager (Tommy Chu) admitted there were some discrepancy in the details of the contract, which led to an unsuccessful collaboration. When asked if Gold Typhoon is frightened by this incident and wouldn't dare to collaborate with Shirley again? He said: "I'm extremely sorry. We are friends in both business and in private. It's just not the right timing."
