After his split with Hong Kong veteran actress Dodo Cheng four years ago, actor David Lui was said to have left for China.
Earlier this year, a reporter spotted a middle-aged woman, who wore a mini skirt and branded clothes, travelling to Hong Kong to celebrate David's birthday with him.
The pair was also caught holding hands and spending the night in a hotel. At the end of last month, reporters witnessed the same lady accompanying David to work in Macau.
On their trip back to Hong Kong, she helped to carry his luggage and took care of him, as if she was his assistant. However, David did not acknowledge her as his girlfriend. When the relationship was exposed, the media noticed that the woman changed her microblog's username frequently, as if trying to prevent the media from catching on.
However, an insider still revealed the woman's past to the media recently. According to the person, David's girlfriend MayMay is in her thirties, drives a Mercedes-Benz and lives in a luxurious house. She participated in the Miss Canto pageant when she was younger, and was decided as one of the top three finalists internally. After the pageant, MayMay caught the eye of Mr Chan, a rich businessman, who owns a stationery production business, and the two held a lavish wedding at a five-star hotel in Guangzhou not long later. The couple migrated to Ho Man Tin in Hong Kong after their marriage and had a daughter, who is now 16 years old and studying in England.
The former beauty queen then separated with her husband, not long after she gave birth. However, MayMay's ex-husband continued to let the mother-daughter pair stay in a luxurious apartment and even provided her with capital to start a business, because of his daughter. A few years later, MayMay dated another rich businessman and he gave her the capital to start a night club business in China, making the woman very well-connected on both sides of the law and possessing some power in Guangzhou.
When the media contacted David, the singer seemed surprised at his girlfriend's past and exclaimed, "I don't know anything about it."
Later, the singer changed his statement, "I wouldn't dig up a person's past, when I befriend them. Besides, we're just friends, so it wouldn't be surprising if I don't know much about her past. I'll not make anymore comments on her."
When MayMay was contacted by the media, the former beauty queen pleaded with the reporter not to publish news about her past and admitted to her relationship with the stationary tycoon. "I don't want to talk about my relationship with Mr Chan. We've already separated and I am grateful that he still cares for me, which is why my relatives still thought that we're together," she said.
When asked about her 16-year-old daughter, MayMay denied she had one, and claimed that the girl is from Mr Chan's previous marriage. She also explained that she did not inform David of her past because their relationship is still "in the observation stages and had not have any official developments, so it's not surprising that he didn't know about my past".
