The 33 year old Jamis Koon was actually a graduate of the TVB 12th Acting Class in 1998. Catherine Chau and Jenny Koon were his classmates. He entered the industry earlier than his sister Ella, but later Jamis left the entertainment circle to follow his father in doing business. The President of the HK's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HKSPCA) strongly denounced Jamis for eating dogs: "I believe eating dogs is very sick, very inhumane, ridiculous because they are our friends. Dog owners clearly understand dogs are very loyal to humans. I just think if you can still eat dogs, that is just really ridiculous, don't even deserve to be a human being. Some people in Mainland still eat dogs, you have to go against these traditional food cultures, must have legislation. Because just us dog lovers alone protesting, they will be asking why can you eat chicken, pigs or cows then? Why can't we eat dogs or cats? So, I just feel to avoid conflicts, the best is to simply have legislation. We at HKSPCA have been doing this all along, assisting in drafting a legislation and hope to make it into a law soon." Furthermore, the President continues: "I feel people who eat dogs have a serious character issue. We aren't in a war or famine right now, there is no excuse to eat dogs. That is sick, I hate them."
