A-Mei suffers backlash from ongoing tensions between China and Japan

Seems like the ongoing tensions between China and Japan are affecting artistes and their careers.

Taiwanese singer A-mei who held her Chang Sha concert on Sunday night was accused by Hunan Television producer Li Rui of being pro-Japan. He wrote on his microblog, “Regarding A-mei’s concert, isn’t she on the Japanese side?” The singer was in the musical Turandot and had performed in Japan four years ago.

After seeing Li’s message, A-mei’s fans demanded for the producer to apologise and delete his offending message. They added, “A-mei has nothing to do with this political issue, please don’t drag her into this.” Li has since deleted the message.

A-mei’s manager stated that he did not see the need to inform the singer about Li’s accusation and added, “I don’t find the need to explain [the situation]. Which singer has not been overseas for their jobs? The accusation is not that serious.

He also added that the singer did not attend the celebration party after her concert because the singer wore high heels for her dance segments, despite doctor’s orders not to aggravate an ankle injury sustained two weeks ago.

A-Mei has no plans for marriage yet

Taiwanese superstar, A-Mei who had missed her good friend, Ella Chen's wedding banquet promised a belated celebration for the singer but kept mum when it comes to her own relationship status.

At a press conference to endorse a massage chair, A-Mei expressed that as she was in Malaysia for a concert on May 5, she was unable to attend Ella's wedding celebration. She will instead hold a belated one with the newlyweds.

After receiving news that her good friend, Stefanie Sun, is pregnant with a Dragon baby, the songstress said that she had called Stefanie to congratulate her.

The reporters then asked the 39-year-old if she is tempted to get married to her bartender boyfriend, Sam, seeing all these good news from her friends in the recent weeks. The singer kept mum before changing the topic to the upcoming Mother's Day holiday, saying that she will be spending time with her mother on the day after returning to Taiwan from an overseas performance.

Harlem Yu proposes to A-Mei during her concert

A-Mei and rumoured boyfriend Harlem Y u took their relationship one step further at the third leg of her AMeiZing World Tour in Taipei.

After two steamy duets, where the pair caressed and teased each other, A-Mei asked Harlem, "Do you want to return as my guest performer again?" To which Harlem replied, "I thought Lee Hom is coming? What about Sam (A-Mei's rumoured bartender boyfriend)?"

Harlem then proceeded to shock the singer when he went down on one knee, and proposed with a plastic ring.
To the dismay of A-Mei's fans, Harlem later revealed that it was an April's Fool joke that he had specially staged for them. The crowd burst out laughing and shouted, "Get together!"

In other related news, the possibility of Lee Hom appearing as a guest performer at A-Mei's concert is very slim as his concert in China is just around the corner.

Also present at the concert yesterday were celebrities such as Rainie Yang, Kevin Tsai and many more. After the show, Kevin had posted on his microblog to inform his Here Comes Kang Xi co-host Dee Hsu that the concert was a blast.

A-Mei admits she is currently dating

Last February, 39-year-old Taiwanese singer A-Mei was rumoured to be dating 33-year-old bartender Sam, whom she had met at a night club.
Despite trying to keep their relationship quiet, A-Mei was photographed at a basketball game, which Sam was playing in.

Two days ago, A-Mei was in Hong Kong to promote her upcoming concert when reporters quizzed if her recent weight gain had anything to do with her smooth love life. The singer smiled and said, "Yes, a little. I'm very happy, but I have to start to lose weight for the concert now, because I went on a three-week holiday previously."

However, A-Mei remained tight-lipped, saying it was a "secret" when probed who she went on a holiday with. When asked if she was currently attached, the singer admitted, "Yes, but we can't talk about this."
"The media will write anything, whenever they photograph something. It's normal for me to make friends, I'm just leading a normal life," A-Mei said, when asked to comment on how she was frequently seen with Sam.
Previously, the bartender had let on that he had been to A-Mei's house, and the pair had spent Valentine's Day together last year. Sam also continued to work as a consultant for the night club, which A-Mei owned, despite speculation on their relationship.

While A-Mei's manager later expressed that the "confession" was a misunderstanding due to the language barrier, the singer neither admitted nor denied the report after it was published.
