Hong Kong singers Denise Ho and Anthony Wong blacklisted in China

The singers who recently declared their homosexuality are reportedly forbidden to appear on China’s public broadcasting and radio channels

Hong Kong singers Denise Ho and Anthony Wong (of Cantopop group Tat Ming Pair) were reportedly blacklisted in China after the two recently declared that they are homosexuals; the both of them are now forbidden to appear on all public broadcasting and radio channels.

According to reports, Denise and Anthony have ‘crossed the line’ after showing their support for the ‘Dare to Love’ event that celebrates homosexuality culture in Hong Kong as well as publicly denouncing national education.

Rumour has it that Denise’s request to appear on China CCTV’s popular television program Dream Choir as a guest was rejected, and her management company later found out that Leslie was being blacklisted.

When contacted by reporters to confirm the rumours, a representative from Denise's management company commented, “I have never heard of China blacklisting Denise and Anthony Wong. As for rumours of Denise not being allowed on Dream Choir, I need to check with my colleagues in China because they are in charge of arranging the schedule.”

Meanwhile, Denise who is currently filming for a Chinese commercial declined to comment on the matter.

When reporters contacted cantopop singer Anthony, he said that he is unsure if he has been blacklisted. “Earlier on, Beijing Television invited me to attend a Spring Festival program, but I turned down because of my busy schedule.”

The 50-year-old felt that he should not be suppressed for coming clean with his sexual orientation as he has not done anything unreasonable. Anthony also hoped that the rumours of him being blacklisted are untrue.

Anthony Wong: Stop harassing me

Following recent reports on Anthony Wong's rejection to make peace with Show Luo through peacemaker and veteran singer Alan Tam, netizens who were believed to be mostly Show's fans, blasted Anthony on his microblog again, leaving crude remarks on his personality.

The Hong Kong veteran actor became irritated by these disputes, and expressed his dissatisfaction, "What's happening? Everyone says I'm using [Show] to create publicity. Am I the one holding a concert now? Please stop harping on this issue. I'm very old now. Stop harassing me, I'm being mentally molested!"

The 51-year-old also allegedly referred to Show's fans as "mental patients" after he posted in his microblog update, "There are so many mental patients appearing recently. I refuse to respond to any of their questions."

Meanwhile, reports suggested Anthony stressed that he did not know Alan well and "both of them were not considered friends". He declined to explain further on his "busybody" criticism on the veteran singer.

"Stop! This matter will not come to an end if I talk about this again," he added.

The actor had exchanged harsh remarks with Show's fans almost eight months ago, commenting that he did not know the 33-year-old, indirectly referring him as a "nobody". He was reportedly unhappy with Show after the latter allegedly made a dig at him publicly during his concert in Hong Kong last weekend.

Anthony Wong asks Show Luo’s fans to let him off

Jay Chou's and Show Luo's fans got embroiled in an online scuffle when some self-professed fans of the former insulted Show. Hong Kong actor Anthony Wong who is also Jay's godfather got implicated in this incident after he asked on his microblog, "Who's Show Luo?"

Since the news got out, Show has expressed his apologies twice to the actor on behalf of his fans but these fans continued to slam Anthony on his microblog.

On Monday night, Anthony suddenly asked "to be let off the hook" on his microblog. He wrote: "Please leave. I've said many times, I didn't know who Show Luo was, but now I do. It's Xiao Zhu [Show's nickname]. He is a big star, a dancing king, is an idol, please let us both off! He apologized to me twice, I didn't know who he was, but because of people like you guys, he had to apologize to me out of the blue. Go away!"

As his original entry contained vulgarities, Show's fans felt that the actor was insincere and continued to bash Anthony through his microblog.

Responding to the backlash, the 50-year-old actor posted another entry on his microblog on Tuesday morning, using Cantonese slang to mock the troublemakers.

Anthony wrote, "I remembered when I was young, there's a type of people call 'troublemakers' and they are usually cons, perverts or thieves. They will make a mountain out of a molehill and they had been gone for more than 10 years. Recently, they once again appear on microblogs and they are youths."

With regards to the incident, Show's manager expressed that the singer "protected his mother and apologized to Anthony. Therefore, he will not make any more comments."
