The cabby driver who was attacked by the pair, offered to settle the case for NT$3.8 million (S$162,500).
This sum was later brought down to NT$3 million (S$128,000), following discussions between the lawyers of all three parties.
According to Tomoyori's lawyer, Tomoyori and Makiyo will come up with NT$1.5 million (S$64,100) each.
In light of the settlement, prosecutors have also revised the penalties they sought for Makiyo from a four-year prison term to a 16 month-term, which they propose to have commuted to four years probation, pointing out that she had no prior convictions and deserved a slightly lighter sentence.
They also accepted Tomoyori's explanation that he had only assaulted Lin for Makiyo's sake and revised the six-year jail term they originally sought for Tomoyori to a two-year jail term, which they proposed to have commuted to five years probation.
Makiyo appeared visibly relieved after the settlement was reached, and stood silently beside her lawyer as she addressed the media after the hearing.
"I believe Makiyo will work harder to resolve the problems she presently has. I hope everyone can forgive Makiyo and give Makiyo a chance to turn over a new leaf," said the star's lawyer.
Toyomori also took some time to speak to the horde of reporters who gathered around him when he exited the Taipei District Court.
"I am grateful to the judge and the prosecutors for giving me another chance. I apologise to the whole of Taiwan society for my actions and hope Lin recovers soon," said Tomoyori.
