Taiwan authorities have on Tuesday charged television host Jacky Wu for his suspected involvement in a massive fraud case, reported Taiwan media.
Prosecutors believe Wu's friend Hsu Feng Yang had colluded with Wu to defraud Lien Ming Mobile Technology, a listed technology company which Xu headed, of NT$60 million (S$2.5 million), by entering into a fake purchase contract with Wu's Light Emitting Diode manufacturing company and then tampering with financial records.
Wu, who is best known for hosting the popular variety show "Guess, Guess, Guess", has since denied these charges.
"I am not worried about something that I did not do. The prosecutors have their own idea of what happened, which may be different from ours.
"Let the law uncover the truth. I'll let the lawyers settle this matter," Wu told reporters.
Wu could be jailed for up to ten years and fined up to NT$200 million (S$8.5 million) if he is convicted.
